Potential Scholarship Telemarketing Fraud Scheme Alert

The U.S. Department of Education is cautioning students nation-wide about an ongoing fraud scheme in which college students are offered scholarships or grants ... for a fee. The crooks usually ask for personal information, including bank account or credit card numbers, in order to charge the "lucky" student a $249 "processing" fee. For more information, and for tips on how to avoid being a victim of fraud and identity theft, be sure to visit the web page of the Office of Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Education.
